What is a System Restore Point and Why is It Important?
A System Restore Point is essentially a saved snapshot of your Windows operating system’s critical settings, system
files, and registry at a specific moment in time.
When optimizing your PC for maximum FPS and lower latency, deep system tweaks are applied to squeeze out every bit of
performance. Having a restore point acts as a safety net. If a tweak causes instability or if you simply prefer your
previous configuration, you can safely roll back your system state in a few clicks without losing any of your personal
files, games, or documents.
💡 Good to Know:
FpsTweak automatically creates a System Restore Point the very first time you open the application. However, you can
also create a new restore point manually whenever you want before applying major updates or new optimization profiles.
How to Manually Create a Restore Point in FpsTweak
Follow these simple steps to manually create a fresh restore point before customizing your settings:
Step 1: Open FpsTweak
Launch the FpsTweak application on your PC. Make sure you run it with administrator privileges if prompted.
Step 2: Login FpsTweak / Navigate to the Restore Point Option
Login your account. In the main menu or sidebar, locate and click on the Profile tab. Creating a restore point does not
require any subscription.
Step 3: Click "Create Restore Point"
Click the Create Restore Point button. FpsTweak will now communicate with Windows to take a complete snapshot of your
current system state.
Step 4: Initiate the Restore Process
Click the Restore System button. This step will revert your computer back to the exact state saved in that backup,
undoing any performance tweaks or system changes made since then.
⚠️ Important: System restoration requires a reboot to safely replace modified Windows files. Please save your work and
close all active games or applications before proceeding.
